Judaics Jewish camp is the perfect setting for children to build strong identities. Our goal is to ensure that campers learn and experience the values that make Judaism unique. Focusing on Jewish ethics, values, and customs, campers leave Nageela proud of our rich heritage. Campers in Camp Nageela Midwest come from families that identify with all Jewish affiliations. All campers join together for a three-week camp experience where each and every child is loved and accepted. In Camp Nageela Midwest, Jewish life isn’t taught, it’s caught. Jewish values and ideals are integrated into our daily program. Shabbat Shabbat in Camp Nageela is the highlight of the week! Shabbat begins with a moving Kabbalat Shabbat late Friday afternoon, preceded by a music video with footage taken throughout that week. Shabbat concludes with a moving Havdalah ceremony on Saturday night. The program throughout the day is different than the rest of the week, and campers enjoy special activities only done on Shabbat. Shabbat meals feature traditional favorites- including fresh baked challah, gefilte fish, matza ball soup and cholent! It is customary in Camp Nageela that campers dress nicely on Shabbat. Kesher The highlight of the day for so many campers and staff! Campers are paired in groups of 1 and 2 with a Big Brother/Big Sister staff member. While relaxing and reviewing their day, they also study from a prepared curriciulum. Past summers focused on avoiding gossip, music, spirituality of animals and more. Tefilah Prayer groups in Camp Nageela are fun and engaging. Many different levels are offered catering to different background knowledge. Whether you can read Hebrew fluently or don’t even know the Hebrew alphabet, there is a group for you! Bar and Bat Mitzvahs Every summer, the entire Camp Nageela joins together for a beautiful and festive Bar and Mitzvah party. Together we celebrate the entire grade of campers becoming Bar and Bat Mitzvah. The evening includes a festive and elaborate dinner, ceremony and dancing. While it is a highlight for all campers, the younger campers eagerly anticipate their chance to be the guests of honor!
